Data Booster is a company that specializes in creating customized Data Literacy courses for leading organizations, including Just Eat Takeaway, Uber, and Skyscanner. To ensure the most engaging e-learning experience, Data Booster places a strong emphasis on creative course design. Their course videos, which I had the pleasure of designing, are enriched with vivid illustrations and animated charts to enhance learning and retention.

Illustration library
Developing an illustration library was a crucial step in achieving visual consistency across the numerous courses offered by Data Booster. Previously, the company collaborated with a contractor to develop the initial character designs. Building upon the style that had been established, I crafted the visual identity to enhance and unify the educational materials.
Ensuring the scalability of the library to grow alongside the company was a top priority in my work. It was crucial for the library to be capable of continuous expansion, with all elements designed for easy reuse across various courses.

The visual identity of the courses is centred around the use of icons. I designed a comprehensive library of icons to visually represent concepts across various topics, including demographics, types of hierarchies, and features of data analytics tools, among many others. While some icons depict standard items like audio, image, and video, others symbolize more abstract concepts, such as types of data, analysis techniques, and data literacy principles.
Additionally, I animated several icons to further engage students and enhance their learning experience.
Animated charts
Naturally, given the focus on data literacy, charts form another significant aspect of the visual identity for Data Booster’s courses. I developed an extensive library of chart icons, most of which I animated.
Animation templates
Lastly, considering all course videos are animated, I established an animation library along with comprehensive guidelines. With Data Booster offering a wide range of courses, optimizing the design process is essential to ensure the creation of consistent, high-quality content. The library includes templates for chart animations, scene transitions, detailed guidelines for text animation, and design grids. Everything is detailed in thorough documentation, facilitating the easy onboarding of new design team members.
