MRI Centrum

The MRI Centrum is a Dutch, independent, specialized radiological centre for MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray examinations. Their mission is to combine high-quality diagnostics with a patient-friendly approach. For this reason, they reached out to Misteli Agency to help them make the experience of an MRI scan as accessible for everyone as possible. I was brought into the project by one of the fantastic project managers at the agency to fulfil the role of the illustrator and animator.
step1: storyboard
The first step in the animation process is designing storyboards. Since there were seven animations to be made, we knew that some scenes would be repeated in most of them. That’s why it was important to start by creating storyboards for each video. This way I could plan how many animated scenes needed to be designed and estimate the workload and a realistic timeline for the project.
Illustrations
Next up is designing the scenes. MRI Centrum had no branding guidelines for illustrations, as none were previously used. This meant I had the freedom to design the scenes and characters from scratch. I opted for clean yet warm and friendly illustrations to emphasize the professionalism of the client while at the same time providing the future patients with a friendly reassurance that they were indeed in good hands.
Animations
The final outcome is seven animations explaining various procedures offered by the MRI Centrum. They present clear instructions on how to prepare for the appointment and are already providing many patients with peace of mind before a new procedure. I am very proud to have worked on such a large project that provides real value to many people. All animations can be viewed on the YouTube channel of the MRI Centrum.
